Ms. Friess is an attorney and business consultant with expertise in the areas of technology and security, and a thorough knowledge of tax and international trade policy. She is skilled in crafting strategic proposals for policy and government contracting initiatives as well as creating and executing strategic business plans to access markets, create successful partnerships, and coordinate the implementation of targeted plans for the expansion of clients� contracting opportunities. Assisting with political challenges is the first step toward the ultimate goal of increasing bottom line numbers for clients. For more than 15 years, Ms. Friess has worked on a variety of issues in the international business and legislative arenas, and has also served as strategic communications counsel for a variety of clients in the technology industry. Her particular strengths are in creating and executing strategies that produce integrated corporate business plans, which provide a consistent message for government, media, and analyst relations, while driving integrated sales opportunities. Her clients have included, among others, Sun Microsystems, the Dominican Republic, GlaxoSmithKline, Fluor Corporation, Philip Morris, the National Restaurant Association, AT&T, UST, L3 Communications, Global Strategies Group, Aegis Defence Services, Nomadio, and USAir.

Previously, Ms. Friess served in the U.S. Senate as Tax and Trade Counsel to Senator Larry Pressler, where she handled Senate Finance Committee issues.  She concurrently served as Counsel on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, focusing on trade, exports, technology, and security issues. Prior to advising Chairman Pressler, Ms. Friess served as Finance Committee Tax and Trade Counsel to Senator Dave Durenberger. Beyond her responsibilities in the tax and trade realm, she handled banking, housing, telecommunications, technology, and governmental restructuring issues. She was deeply involved in the drafting of the implementing legislation for NAFTA and the Uruguay Round of the GATT/WTO. She began her public policy career as an aide to Congressman Bill Frenzel, former senior member of the House Ways & Means and Budget Committees, and now Guest Scholar at the Brookings Institute.

A native of South Dakota, Ms. Friess received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Minnesota . She subsequently received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver College of Law, while concurrently studying for a Master of Arts degree in International Relations. She also studied at the University of London College of Law while working for a British Barrister�s Chambers that specialized in European Union trade litigation.

Ms. Friess is a member of the Bar in the District of Columbia and Colorado. She is also a member of the Tax Coalition; a founding board member of RightNOW!; and a member of the National Steering Committee, and Board of Trustees for the National Museum of Americans in Wartime.  www.nmaw.org
